    In short

    • Loro Parque is open every day of the year, from 9:30 to 17:30. The last entry time is not published, so plan to arrive early: the day is a long one.
    • A free train runs to the park from Plaza de los Reyes Católicos, in the centre of Puerto de la Cruz, every 20 minutes.
    • The park has shows with sea lions, parrots, dolphins and orcas. Each one lasts about 20 minutes, and the times change, so check them when you arrive.
    • Short on time and money? Take the entry ticket. Want a guided tour, lunch and reserved seats at the shows? Take a pass. Want the water park too? Take the Twin Ticket with Siam Park.

Shows with sea lions, parrots, dolphins and orcas

The park runs four shows, each of about 20 minutes. The sea lions open the day at 9:45, and the parrot show has the most departures, five between 10:25 and 16:45. The times change from day to day, so look at the board when you walk in.

    Parrots, where it all began

Loro Parque opened in 1972 with 150 parrots, and it still has a Parrot Museum. Among the birds you can see are hyacinth macaws, with feathers of a deep blue.

    Penguins and the aquarium areas

Planet Penguin is an indoor habitat with rocks and snow. The park also has an aquarium called Acuario, plus Aquaviva and Coral Kingdom, so you can see penguins and fish in the same visit.

    Gorillas and a children's area

The park has a gorilla area, with a conservation programme, and Kinderlandia, a space made for children. In all, it keeps more than 400 species. There are no animal encounters: nobody swims with the dolphins here.
